Submission Guidelines for the Blog

Model of Publication 

  • Invited Submissions X1P may invite contributions from legal practitioners, academicians, and students on specific topics related to financial and legal issues. 
  • Rolling Submissions X1P accepts articles for publication on its blog on a rolling basis, subject to the guidelines below.


Submission Guidelines 

Scope of Articles: The blog welcomes submissions on contemporary issues in the following areas:

  • Corporate and Commercial Laws, including but not limited to competition law, company law, securities law, taxation law, trade law, etc.
  • Financial issues and Economic Policies.
  • Important current case laws, recent issues, deals, transactions and procedural changes.
  • Practitioners’ notes about their experiences.
  • Summaries of important legal and financial concepts.


Submission Process

  • The article should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx) to x1principles@gmail.com with the subject: 'Author Name | Title of the Article'.
  • Co-authorship is permitted up to two (2) authors.
  • The body of the email should contain the details of the author(s), including Name, Affiliation (if applicable), and Contact Information.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Language: X1P accepts submissions written only in English.
  • Word Limit: Between 500-1500 words.
  • Font & Size: Aptos Display and size 12.
  • Alignment & Line Spacing: Justified & 1.5
  • Title Length: Should not exceed 15 words.
  • Analytical Approach: Articles should be analytical rather than descriptive.
  • Referencing:
    • All references must be hyperlinked within the text whenever possible.
    • If no online source is available, footnotes should be used sparingly.
    • Legal citations should follow the citation style.

Other Style Requirements

  • Defined terms should be in bold and placed inside (parentheses) at first occurrence. E.g. The Supreme Court of India (hereinafter “the SCI”). Thereafter, the defined term should be used similarly as it has been defined.
  • Case Law:
    • Full names of parties should be used and italicized.
    • If a case is used as a defined term, it should be in bold and placed inside (parentheses) at first occurrence. E.g. Keshavananda Bharati v. State of Kerala, AIR 1963 SC 27 (hereinafter “Kesavananda Bharati case”)
    • Thereafter, the defined term should be used in italics. E.g. “In the Kesavanand Bharati case,”
  • Statutes:
    • Should be referred to by their full name and year at first occurrence. E.g. Companies Act, 2013.
  • Section / Regulation Formatting: The first letter should be capitalized. E.g. Section 18 or Regulations 42 and 43.
  • Date FormatExample: January 01, 2025.
  • Direct Quotes:
    • Should be italicized and placed inside "double quotes".
  • Emphasis:
    • Italicize relevant words/phrases.
    • When adding emphasis to quoted material, underline the relevant words and add "(emphasis supplied)".

Author Agreement

  • The submission must be original and unpublished elsewhere.
  • The author is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all facts, opinions, and references.
  • Plagiarism is strictly prohibited, and X1P maintains a zero-tolerance policy.


Review Process

  • Authors will receive an acknowledgment of receipt at the time of submission.
  • Each article is reviewed by one or more Editors, who have the discretion to accept, reject, or request revisions.
  • Review time may take up to 2 weeks.

Cross-Publication

  • Articles initially published on the X1P blog may be cross-published on other platforms with appropriate attribution.
  • The cross-publication must include: "First published on X1P: Explaining First Principles ([Website URL])."
